Just what is BMX racing? The definition is right here

Check this out. You can click on the image to enlarge it. The guys at Scholastic.com actually put this definition on the cover of their magazine, called Gearing Up For The Olympic Games. This is just about the best, shortened definition of what BMX is about as far as descriptions go. Maybe the Ministry of Community Youth and Sports in Singapore (MCYS) and some of our Caldecott media folks can get this magazine and actually see what BMX and the Youth Olympic Games is all about, instead of showing other BMX disciplines that just will just about make them the laughing stock of the whole world. While we ae at it, Singapore prides itself in being a media hub. Can any of these media companies focus on what BMX is, by basing what is written on the cover of this magazine? It is not so hard to do and it will go a long way in educating the masses about BMX and what it is. Now you so-called "BMX consultants" out there...read this and read this magazine. Maybe this might, this just might start you on your journey to knowing more about BMX.

Singapore to host the Youth Olympics 2010

Well, we did it! I am very proud to say that my country will be hosting the Youth Olympics 2010. Now. We need to get down to brass tacks. We have TWO years to start breeding and training BMX riders to compete in the youth Olympics. That means a world class BMX track needs to be built. Are you guys from the SSC and MCYS hearing this? It has been TEN years since we asked for facilities but you guys did not listen. Well, now that we have the Olympics, we have to move, and move fast! I am sure that I speak on behalf of all the BMXers here in Singapore that we will do all we can to realise that dream but you guys will have to come down to our level and for once, listen! So come on! Let us do it!

BMX in the Youth Olympics in Singapore seems doomed

You know, I do not know why I even bother sometimes. Trying to get through to this guy Richard Tan is like trying to get through to the US President, and trying to make him understand the dire situation is even harder. As a matter of fact, I am doing him a favour by calling him but as per normal, he has a PA that filters his calls and it seems that the voices of the BMXers in Singapore are just not worth listening to.

Just this morning. I call his office. His PA answers. Seems he is on the phone. Never mind. I leave a message asking him to call me so that we can discuss. No reply. I call him again and this time I am told that he is at a meeting. See the pattern forming here? So I ask his PA (who else?) if he is avoiding my call. She brazenly says that that he called me and left a message. If that is so, then why am I calling to talk to him? There was NO message left on my phone at all! Then I ask the PA about BMX in Singapore. She says that Richard was mentioning about the Tampines BMX track. I asked her if Richard Tan ever got out of the air-conditioned comfort of his car to check the place out before telling everyone that they have the track in Tampines (which is in a bad state of disarray) and can confidently host the Youth Olympics. No answer but the usual perfunctory "yes I will let him know"

See what I mean? That is what is gonna happen in Singapore BMX-wise. The Youth Olympics is gonna be dooomed, all because some people in the MCYS have not been listening, and have not been listening still. We warned them in 2000 and 2001 but they did not listen. Honestly guys, you guys have NOT done your homework.
